In the above photo posted by Vallon the retouching makes it appear that the guy to the left in the group at the right is carrying a gasmask in his right hand. If so it is a mask huge enough for a horse!

The following picture clearly shows that the contact prints were made with negatives #281 and #282 connected: http://w3.msi.vxu.se/users/pku/Historia/AuschwitzResistance/PMO_281a.jpg (Note for example the edge of the film, where light had leaked in from the side.) I don't think so. That's on the co...

Scott, as you said: During the typhus epidemic of 1942 These pics are from 1944. Actually, I didn't say it but it looks to me like what is happening is that corpses are being stripped of their clothing--and then the infested clothing not worth recycling is being burned in a small bonfire behind Kre...

A witness states that the pictures show the burning of bodies. Yeah, but it is all hearsay at best. Even David Schmulewski, the resistance agent that supplied the photos, IIRC, did not actually take them, or at least was unavailable to supply an affidavit from direct experience, and was never cross...

The document is supposed to be written in pencil. Was that the case here? Maybe Höß has erasures that are hard to see.

Back to the railroad rails. I'm no metallurgist, but isn't my frying pan made out of steel? A frying pan is probably made out of cast iron unless it is stainless steel. Cast iron is cheap but brittle. A frying pan is not subject to the kinds of loads that would be the case with locomotive rails, no...

It will be interesting to hear if people think Stangl knew of technical problems with rails heating up, and thus included it. I doubt if he really tried to think it through. Stangl was obviously trying to impress with his penitence and his infamy, not unlike Eichmann, and liars frequently try to ad...

I don't know much about rails but during the American Civil War railroad wrecking was practiced by heating the middle of the rail over a fire then using horses to bend the rail around trees, etc. Sound like hard work to me. Presumably the ties were used for fuel. That's true, although Civil War ste...

I doubt it. There will probably be a complete media blackout everywhere until the guilty verdict is in.

He does not seem to exaggerate his own rôle, I think. Most people want to be part of history. When they tell their story they want to be part of The Story. The history is something that Eichmann could have easily gleaned in gist from the postwar newspapers and magazines. After the war Eichmann was ...

Vallon wrote:Eichmann spoke to a sympathetic ear, in full freedom. There can be no claims of torture, and one cannot argue that Eichmann said things in hope of a more lenient sentence.

This still doesn't mean that Eichmann's boasts are in any way truthful.

It must've been hard to keep that pool clean without a little more concrete poured around it to walk on. Yuck.

Scott says: How do I ignore it? I wrote it. So then, why did he ignore what he himself wrote? My point was Big Deal, after exploring all the facets, which includes the museum clarifying their story and supporting it with some documentation. Yours truly, and then he, asked ... 'Why would the Germans...

Or, for that matter, as the sign implies, why would the Germans disguise a fire-brigade pond as a swimming pool? How d...
