Been thinking about this for a long while.
Thought it might have something to do with National Socialism's opposition to charging interest on loans. One of the NS party Program Planks was to abolish interest.
Thought it might also be because Germany didn't have any gold but functioned well by bartering goods for raw materials.
Other reasons might be opposition to German Empire in the Middle East (oil)? Competition among British, Soviet and Rooseveltian socialism?

Re: The real reason for World War II
From an economic perspective "Nazi Germany" was "running a little hot" (meaning inflation was a major problem even after having defeated France in six weeks and facing only Great Britain.)
So first you have to define "World War 2" (my personal view is that it began on December 7th, 1941) but then once you do that you could...and indeed should argue...that one of the major reasons for Nazi Germany to invade Russia was it have them the manpower to sustain a war effort...not the least reason being the Red Army had moved forward from excellent defensive positions directly to the German Frontier...establishing the Big Three in any crime namely "motive, means and opportunity."
So while World War 2 began for Britain in November, 1939...for Germany it began absolutely in June, 1941.
Was Russia about to invade Germany? Interesting question..although there is no doubt who "invaded" who first (Nazi Germany.)
Since the German Wehrmacht (the OKW) gave the AOK for the surprise attack...and the attack was in fact a surprise...technically speaking that is a success.
What happens after that can basically be seen as "conjecture" in my view...

Have you heard anything about russian writer Suvorov? I'd suggest you to google for a few of his books (they are available in english as well). They might change your views on this topic....

I suggest that you actually read or search the threads here, i.e.:
'Operation Barbarossa Was A Preventive Attack'
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=7999
In that thread alone Suvorov's name comes up 49 times, 58 times for the WWII Europe / Atlantic Theater Revisionist Forum
