Knowing about the impossible propaganda and claims for 'compensation' made against the Germans, it's no leap to realize that some of the same tactics are used against the Japanese. Certainly the US needs to demonize 'the Japs' in any way possible. After all, the war criminals in the US govt. must try to rationalize the illegal, enormous mass murders of hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians via 'strategic' & nuclear bombing.

Japan Debunks WWII Atrocity Claims
http://codoh.com/news/3039
Japan has acknowledged that it conducted only a limited investigation before claiming there was no official evidence that its imperial troops coerced Asian women into sexual slavery before and during World War II. [see: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/0 ... 37279.html ]
Political friction between Japan, China and Korea over the extent of the "comfort women" system has highlighted the role of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East in creating the claim of an organized government policy of forced sexual slavery. The Victor's prosecution team at the 1946-1948 International Military Tribunal for the Far East, held in Tokyo, produced various documents supporting claims of an official Japanese policy of forced enslavement of women in occupied areas.
The documents were produced and submitted by the Dutch, French and Chinese governments to the Tribunal, widely known among Japanese as the Tokyo Trial. The seven documents which the tribunal adopted as evidence eventually led to the Japanese military's actions being recognized as a war crime in a chapter on atrocities that was included in the tribunal's 1948 judgment.
"The (postwar) Japanese government accepted the war criminal trial with Article 11 of the peace treaty that was signed to end the postwar Occupation in 1951."
But an "all-out and sincere investigation" by the Japanese government in 1993 reported that no supporting documents were found in the Japanese Cabinet's Secretariat's archives.
The comfort women controversy did not develop until the 1990's, when the Japanese started to challenge claims of an official policy of forced sexual slavery and the extent of the brothel system. It was pointed out that an open and organized system of prostitution existed in Japan, that many of the Comfort Women were Japanese, and that there are clear records of large and regular payments to the women.
The Chinese, Koreans, Americans and British all support the traditional tale. The estimate of Chinese scholar Su Zhiliang is that there were up to 410,000 comfort women. Japanese researcher Ikuhiko Hata estimated that there were 20,000 women.
Korean Kim Il Myon asserts that "80 to 90%" of all comfort women were Korean... However, no statistics exist to back up any of these estimates. (See http://www.awf.or.jp/e1/facts-07.html
