
We your draw attention to the fact that the women in the front of the group although shaven headed still wear their own clothes. It is harder to make out the composition of the group as it recedes into the background, but men and possibly children also appear to be present.
Whilst these women (and possibly the entire group) could simply be inmates awaiting the issue of their prison uniforms, we wonder if they might not be either unregistered 'depot prisoners' who were held in the transit camp in Auschwitz, ready for transfer to other camps, or even, those who were not selected for work at all and were due to be 'lodged separately'.
