And everyone gets to see the true face of "holocaust denial". Finally they say there was no Dresden bombing.

The world needs to establish a standard. Those, who can not be counted as casualties because of the fact that there is nothing left of them except ashes, need to be ignored.

I find it easier to believe that the death toll for Dresden was 100,000 plus, rather than the 20,000 that the committee of historians decided on. Maybe, like Hirosima, and Nagsaki, it was deemed neccesary at the time, and maybe we now find it embarrasing, but I don't think the casualty figures should be minimised for political reasons, and if that is what that group historians has done, they should be ashamed.

It was even higher than 200,000 or 300,000. 253,000 corpses (85,000 totally or partially identified and 168,000 not identified) were counted by the Germans at that time and many more were probably never found. It can't be said it was just Nazi propaganda because the German population was not even told about those numbers in order to avoid discouragement.

Eberhard Matthes a lieutenant colonel and General Staff Officer in Dresden at the time of the bombing was one of those responsible for determining the number of victims. According to his data 35,000 corpses were "totally identified", 50,000 were "partially identified" and 168,000 corpses "could no longer be identified." In total Matthes counted 253,000 dead.

Nine British PWs were working in Dresden during the raid and said the horror and devastation caused by the Anglo-American 14-hour raid was beyond human comprehension unless one could see for himself.

One British sergeant said,

"Reports from Dresden police that 300,000 died as a result of the bombing didn't include deaths among 1,000,000 evacuees from the Breslau area trying to escape from the Russians. There were no records on them.

"After seeing the results of the bombing, I believe these figures are correct."
