"[Austen Chamberlain] has done western civilization a great service by refuting at least one of the slanders against the Germans
because a civilization which leaves war lies unchallenged in an atmosphere of hatred and does not produce courage in its leaders to refute them
is doomed.

One British diplomat wrote home about it - confidential report:
https://archive.org/details/AllegedPers ... dApril1933

Guess that's more credible then what was placed in newspapers.

That's what I wondered about. There was something fishy about the photography all along:

The photos are a bit blurred and lack resolution. But check how clear the writing on the sign is.
Compare the writing on the photos, but also the photo that came with the article. There it is even the text that is different.
Also compare the font a bit. It looks like something that was written over on the photo.
And well, it looks as if this "Michael Siegel" was added to the photo as well.

This supposedly happened in 1933, but he took 7 years to emigrate (apparently without any other incidents).

The whole affair doesn't prove "NS-Germany's" fiendishness against Jews. Quite to the contrary. It demonstrates that there were orchestrated campaigns against Germany to make it appear that life in Germany had become 'terrible for Jews' and that they were treated unfairly. But fairness is a rather arbitrary concept. It's possible to call virtually any policy 'unfair' on some grounds. If it is improve, they simply with shift the goal posts and claim that it is still unfair. So it doesn't even help in this regard, whether a policy is fair or not. One never pleases those that feel that are entitled to special treatment.

Just a short comment: when I came here I though I was already pretty well informed. But since then, no, it's threads like these that just leave me thunderstruck. They started their Horror Klaus-nonsense in february 1933? I can't believe it. I'm just dumbfounded.

Btw, this article that Hektor posted doesn't mention the photo (or I overlooked it), but it is quite an interesting read:

https://archive.org/details/AllegedPers ... dApril1933

If this is a picture of something that actually happened and wasn't staged, I wonder what the original text on the sign was. It must have been something embarrassing, because this is public shaming. You are not shaming someone if you present him as somebody who just filed a complaint at the police station.
Maybe there is a possibility to find something about this case in German newspapers from that time.

The 'article' is diplomatic correspondence.
Just to show that diplomats were very well aware that the theatre made by some Jewish organization was completely out of proportion.

That there were cases were Jews were abused isn't in dispute, but they were rare, unexpectedly rare. They were of course trumped up, when certain circles got hold of info about it.

Also check the articles with photo. Sometimes the name is different:
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/arti ... 20complain
There is more fishy stuff to it. And it is definitely a deception operation given that this was in the News all over the world. This can only be done by an organized group with large influence.

The alleged incident was also mentioned in a documentary on Edgar Feuchtwanger:

They make as if it is real. Now the contemporary articles have the marks of fraud on them. Fake News, if you want. But it still could be conflated only. If Siegel (who sometimes is called Schwartz) was escorted through the streets of a city, there should have been plenty of ordinary bystanders that would have remembered the incident. Strangely, they are never presented to us. There are however people that claimed to 'have photographed' it. But even main-stream media in Germany found the story dubious:
