Your question in the title and your question in the post must be answered differently, and I would recommend writing another thread that relates to the latter for the sake of site rules and organization.

To answer the title question, the nature of life in the camps was never set in stone, and could always change at any moment during the war, depending on the German war situation, the camp's location, the quality of the SS staff assigned to each camp, and the presence or lack of diseases in each camp. Many documents can be read in the CODOH archive that relate to this subject (https://codoh.com/library/categories/holocaust-final-solution-living-conditions/).

Generally, living conditions for inmates grew worse as the war went on, due to the Allied bombing of railway lines and the subsequent outbreak of shortages of food, water, and medical supplies (hence why there are plenty of alleged "death camp" victims who in reality, were probable victims of starvation and disease.)

My guess it was a whole lot better than those poor souls in a Russian hard labour camp.

I agree with what Kretschmer has said here. The conditions in the camps were often quite terrible in the final months of the war, as Germany was crumbling and could not provide resources even to take care of its own citizens. The last place anyone would want to be in is an internment camp run by the losing side of war in the final moments.

I recommend researching camps on an individual basis, taking into account the time frame with regards to the war. I also suggest:

NOTE: I am taking a leave of absence from revisionism to focus on other things. At this point, the ball is in their court to show the alleged massive pits full of human remains at the so-called "extermination camps." After 8 decades they still refuse to do this. I wonder why...
