Holocaust activist Rainer Höss, grandson of Auschwitz commandant, found guilty of fraud for Holocaust cash scam

Postby Sannhet » 2 years 9 months ago (Fri Aug 21, 2020 2:15 pm)

This man, Rainer Höss, the grandson of the famous Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss, was previously featured in a CODOH Forum thread a few weeks ago: "Absolutely VOMITIVE!!! Rudolf Höss's disgusting grandson talks to the Jews about his slandered grandfather," viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13358.

That thread featured a video of Rainer giving an interview to CNN and talking a bout his Holocaust work and showing off his Holocaust tattoo:

Rainer the Holocaust Grandson Tattoo Man is back in the news:

The latest verdict [against Rainer Höss] is related to a fictitious film project. Rainer Höss borrowed the €17,000 from a German businessman to finance a film about the Holocaust that he was allegedly producing himself. He told the man that he had property worth millions but that the money was tied up in real estate in the US and all he needed to finish the film was €10,000. In reality, Höss was already deeply in debt.

Auschwitz as a money-spinner? Grandson of Germany's Nazi elite found guilty of fraud

Rudolf Höss was commandant of the Auschwitz death camp. His grandson Rainer warns of the evil of National Socialism, but also may have tried to make money from his family history. Now he has been found guilty of fraud.

August 13, 2020 | Deutsche Welle

Rainer Höss led an unremarkable life as a cook in the southwestern German state of Baden-Württemberg until about 10 years ago. There was nothing particularly unusual about the 55-year-old — except that he is the grandson of one of the most monstrous leaders of the National Socialist dictatorship: Rudolf Höss helped set up the death camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau and was commandant there for more than three years, from May 1940 to November 1943.

More than a million people, most of them Jews, were murdered at the camp. Rudolf Höss was found guilty of war crimes in 1947 and hanged at the site of the former concentration camp. He displayed no remorse, right up to his death. He personified the unspeakable history of Auschwitz.
Rainer Höss stands accused of exploiting his public attempts to come to terms with the atrocities committed by his grandfather for his own financial interests and to satisfy his own desire for prominence.
Publicly, he warned of the dangers of and lessons to be learned from National Socialism, visiting Auschwitz with school classes and showing the young people what is known as "Villa Höss," where his grandfather lived with his family while he was camp commandant.

The journalist Eldad Beck of the Israeli daily Israel Hayom went to the Auschwitz Memorial with him in 2010. The report made Rainer Höss famous. He appeared on chat shows both in Germany and abroad. The Holocaust survivor Eva Mozes Kor symbolically "adopted" him, as the grandson of a Nazi mass murder.

Deutsche Welle also produced a report about Rainer Höss on 27 January to mark the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
Trading in family photos from Auschwitz

Then, on August 2 2020, Eldad Beck told the German mass-circulation Bild am Sonntag the reason why he noticed Höss. Beck had a horrible suspicion. He believed that Höss, rather than donating a box of his grandfather's family photos from his time in Auschwitz to the Holocaust memorial Yad Vashem — wanted to sell it. Beck, whose own family included victims of the Holocaust, was appalled by this attempt to turn the mass murderer's legacy into money. He got in touch with Höss.

By then, Eldad Beck was not the only one accusing Höss of shamelessly exploiting his family history for financial gain. A local history portal based in the western German city of Gelsenkirchen called Gelsenzentrum also alleges that Rainer Höss "makes money from the suffering of millions in the Holocaust."
A court in Leonberg in Baden-Württemberg "sentenced him to eight months in prison for fraud," as judge Jasmin Steinhart confirmed to Deutsche Welle.

The custodial sentence was suspended on condition that Rainer Höss perform 80 hours of community and pay a fine of €17,000 ($20,000.) It also emerged at the trial that Rainer Höss has "already come to the authorities' attention on several occasions and been sentenced accordingly," said Steinhart.

Making cash-money and gaining fame from the Holocaust are serious moral crimes! I wonder if there have been any others who have done anything like this? :?

Re: Holocaust activist Rainer Höss, grandson of Auschwitz commandant, TED talk

Sixteen minute TED Talk by Rainer Hoess, October 2019, at Kotor, Montenegro:

The family legacy of a mass murderer in Auschwitz | Rainer Hoess | TEDxKotor

As often the cases in situations like this, reading the comments (assuming they are unmoderated and the commentariat isn't packed with accounts engaged in "astroturfing") is instructive on where public opinion may be, pro or con the message of the main article or video.

Some of them, auto-sorted to the top from Youtube's algorithm, based partly on Likes, I'll repost here.

The Holocaust as Civic/State Cult, seen in full light.

How ironic that the grandson of a monster would advocate against his grandfather's crimes. Full circle. Good does indeed work in mysterious ways. Amen ❤️❤️[praying emoticon] [praying emoticon]

I had the privilege of getting to know Rainer and Eva and their friends via twitter and facebook. Rainer is a really, really nice person, a chef, a loving father, and a genuinely kind person.

Wow. To choose a different path, having grown up with such a famliy and the curse of that family name, that is what I call real courage. Keep up the good work, mr Rainer Hoess.

this is a precious witness!

You can see one obvious strongpoint of the Holocaust:

Fame.

Even if Rainer never got a single Pfenning, Heller, Cent, Shekel, or Euro-Cent his whole life from milking his story, he'd still have fame and attention and people praising him, as above, if he jumps through the hoops as demanded by the state cult. This kind of positive attention is addictive for many people.

As for the Youtube commentariat. Those who know enough to try sorting comments by 'Newest' instead of 'Top Comments' will, also as usual, get to see some dissident perspectives. In this case, here are a few of the top comments when I sort by Newest:

As an American I am most ashamed of Guantanamo. Indefinitely holding, torturing, humiliating people.

You hate your Grandfather but you have built a career off of him.

If the National Socialist German Worker's Party had won the war then Rudolf would have retired to a farm, as he always wanted to do (Artaman League). Rainer would have grown up knowing his Granpa and having a jolly old time free from capitalism and marxism. Just imagine the difference. (I'm Jewish so not an endorsement, in case you thought that).

It appears that the rest of the Hoess family "denies the Holocaust" (0:53) :

"I'm the only one in my family who not denies the Holocaust".

Gee, and he could not think why that is? His dad and his siblings were still kids. But probably figured out what "did not happen" at this place, while they were living there.
