Famine In British Occupied India

Postby Mortimer » 9 years 6 months ago (Wed Nov 13, 2013 3:04 pm)

The policies of the British government made worse the effects of the Bengal famine in India during world war 2. Of course, if the Japanese had done such a thing it would be a "war crime". An atrocity is an atrocity no matter who does it.

Churchill's policy of allowing Indians to starve was nothing new as far as the British Empire was concerned. Their policy of withholding foodstuffs was also used in Ireland during the potato famine - http://www.wolfetonesofficialsite.com/famine.htm
And in Germany during and after world war one - http://www.wintersonnenwende.com/script ... n1919.html
Millions of people under British occupation in Asia, India and Africa worked on plantations or down mines for pennies a day while British businessmen reaped profits of millions of pounds. They didn't care about fighting Germany, Italy and Japan as they were already under occupation. The fact that a world empire based on conquest and rapine has been presented as some kind of humanitarian enterprise is a testament to the power of propaganda especially one sided movies about world war two.
Both sides committed war crimes. Both sides committed atrocities. http://codoh.com/library/categories/911/ The claim that the Allies were the "good guys" has been relegated to the trash heap of history where it belongs.

General Bernard Montgomery apparently also had similar views on race as Churchill - http://codoh.com/library/document/2814/

The arrogant attitude of Churchill's imperialist mindset was illustrated when he signed the Atlantic Charter in August 1941. Even from the start Britain didn't live up to the stated aims of the charter as it was holding hundreds of millions of subjects in colonial bondage in India, Asia and Africa.

Until now I just found a few entries from 1943 with the war cabinet dealing with the issue (Well that's more then with a certain other issue).

Apparently the British have been offered assistance with the famine from the Axis.

It was not just a random group of businessmen who were dominant (?) in the British Empire. The same British Empire took Palestine from the Ottomans also, IIRC, and later gave it to zionists.

Jewish financial and business interests were important participants in the imperialist enterprise. For example, the Indian railroad network that the Sassoons helped to finance was closely integrated into the imperial administration, and Julius Reuter's wire service functioned as the command and control mechanism of the colonial government. Upon occasion, the British government also turned to Jewish banking houses to finance imperial expansion. Disraeli's purchase of the Suez Canal in 1878, for example, was made possible by Henry Oppenheim's extensive contacts in Egypt and a four million pound loan from Lionel Rothschild. The role played by Jewish capital in the creation of Britain's nineteenth-century empire was not lost on its critics. In his classic work, which became the basis of Lenin’s theory of imperialism, J. A. Hobson argued that "men of a single and peculiar race, who have behind them centuries of financial experience," formed "the central ganglion of international capitalism."

Veterans Today columnist Jonas E Alexis has written an article about Winston Churchill which shows, amongst other things, his attitude towards Indians - http://www.veteranstoday.com/2015/09/24 ... ed-mammon/

I came across this short film the other day - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mK74i_61_U

It appears that a growing number of people in the West are becoming aware of Churchill's starvation crime against the Indians. This may explain the new movie about WC with Gary Oldman which looks like nothing but a propaganda fest designed to keep alive the fictional official account of his time as prime minister -
