I'm going to post a variety of images regarding the concentration camps and prisons in pre-war Nazi Germany. I would very much like to know what everyone thinks of these statistics. I myself am baffled at how moderate they appear to be. However, I am no statistician.
When historians or political pundits talk about Nazi Germany, they love to talk about terror, concentration camps, prisons, the whole "totalitarian" parade of coercion. In the case of Nazi Germany, you don't see the same things as you'd expect to when hearing these same people talking about it. In real numbers, and in practise, National Socialist Germany appears to be a relatively free society.
Nazi Germany was open to the world, unlike the Soviet Union. The Nazi press published news about concentration camps in local papers, excessive violence was punished which I personally would suspect was an institutional obligation. Not a singular occurrence. And only a very minute number of people, from particular groups were, in my mind, rightfully discriminated against and removed from society. Mainly Marxists and Jews. Of course, these groups overlapped. Really, the only people sent to camps or to prisons as political prisoners were the nucleus of this kind of political subversion and hostility to the National Socialist state.

If you were to compare any of these statistics to the Soviet Union, or even our societies today, in countries with much smaller population sizes, I'm certain that the Third Reich's numbers here wouldn't even come close to matching any of them.
What I believe we're seeing, is a magnification of terror where it largely didn't exist.

Accurate figures on the USSR's concentration camps would be hard to come by. I doubt we will ever know. Here's a map from the 1950s, right after the end of WWII. The Soviets didn't waste any time setting up forced labor camps, despite executing German officers for what they supposedly did in the Third Reich's camps.

More info:The International League was able to document the existence of well over 400 camps in Eastern Europe in 1952. From the testimony available concerning these camps, the International League estimated that they had held somewhere between 1,000,000 and 1,200,000 forced laborers from their inauguration

"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments, and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance -- that principle is contempt prior to investigation."
NOTE: I am taking a leave of absence from revisionism to focus on other things. At this point, the ball is in their court to show the alleged massive pits full of human remains at the so-called "extermination camps." After 8 decades they still refuse to do this. I wonder why...

Nikolai Tolstoy produced a map for his book 'Stalin's Secret War'.
I agree that we won't ever know the full extent of Soviet Camps. No doubt they were brutal and numerous. The camps of the Third Reich, especially in the pre-war years would be children's playgrounds in comparison.
What do you make of the statistics I posted?
