Eichmann Interview by Sassen

The following tape apparently of an interview with Adolf Eichmann is cited on Holocaust Controversies:

They claim that Eichmann "clearly indicated he had desired to exterminate all Jews, and that Nazi policy had been geared towards that ultimate objective." The tape is in German with Dutch subtitles. Eichmann is said in the commentary to say "I must say truthfully that if we had killed all the 10 million Jews that Himmler's statisticians originally listed in 1933, I would say: Good, we have destroyed an enemy." I can just about make out the first half of this, but Eichmann seems to say "diese Begegner" (these opponents) rather than "all the 10 million Jews that Himmler's statisticians originally listed in 1933", which would make the material between quotes a gloss. At the Jerusalem trial, Eichmann quite clearly says "Ich habe Sie nicht vernichtet." (I did not annihilate you/them.) - this is included in the trailer of the recent film about Hannah Arendt.

How do we know, we're dealing with the *real* Eichmann?

General skepticism is all very well and appropriate in this sphere more than most in my experience, but are there any particular grounds to doubt that the records are genuine? They originated in the private sphere, but then many sources do.

I would need to examine the recent book to evaluate the claims made, but I wondered if there has been any work already done. David Irving mentions a memoir on his site published by Die Welt in August 1999:

As I say, there is plenty of room for reasonable doubt, but that is no substitute for a comprehensive analysis.
