Gerd Schultze-Rhonhof Lecture w/ English Subtitles

From the description . . .

Click the CC button in the bottom right corner of the viewing window if subtitles do not load automatically. If you want to change the font size, etc., click on the gear wheel icon beside CC, then click "Options" in the pop-up window.

Major-General Gerd Schultze-Rhonhof (ret.) speaks of his groundbreaking revisionist history of the run-up to the Second World War, "The War That Had Many Fathers" (Der Krieg der viele Väter hatte). This fascinating lecture has racked up nearly 200,000 views in various uploads on YouTube, but despite the existence of an excellent Portuguese translation, until now there has been no English version available for the rest of us. Break the spell of more than seven decades of "Allied" propaganda and try seeing the run-up to 1 September 1939 as the Germans did. The results might surprise you. Essential viewing.

Hey folks. Just a side project I've been working on (and finally finished!).

I haven't had time yet to go through it all again line by line so there may be some glitches here and there. Any feedback on errors, omissions, etc., would be much appreciated. I'll probably do an edit in a week or two when I've recovered from translation fatigue, lol.

And yes, of course, spread it around.

I suggested the book for purchase to my local public library and they did! I have just finished reading it. Unfortunately the translation quality is poor, but if you can set that aside and concentrate on the content it is superb. Very detailed and objectively presented. Nearly 700 pages with the historical background going back to the nineteenth century and the run up to both world wars. I have previously read Taylor, Hoggan and Buchanan. This may not be the most easily readable but it is the most thorough and convincing. 5 stars.

I agree with you that the book is indeed the most convincing, Kingfisher.

Another point is that, unlike most books about the Second World War, the author delves deeper into history than just the post-war Versailles regime, and shows that the real cause of the war could be said to have been the founding of the German Reich itself in 1870.

There was no way that Britain, with its balance of power strategy, was going to allow a powerful Germany to become powerful enough to assert itself on the Continent, much less threaten British domination of world trade.

Excellent Project!

However, I think the CC means that the subtitles aren't preserved, when I download the video. Or am I wrong?

If you're using Windows there is free software, e.g. "4K Video Downloader", which will download YouTube videos with separate .srt subtitle files. There's also a site - keepsubs.com - which allows you to download just the .srt file (with keepvid.com to get the video file.)
