Learning about Cremation

Postby bonniwell2923 » 4 years 4 months ago (Sun Jan 13, 2019 1:59 am)

I can across this video long ago and perhaps some of you may know it and some do not?
It is a video on Cremation and B and L Cremations and National Geographic.
The video mentions nothing about the Holocaust or jew aspects although there is a soap comment
Note toward the end of the video, it mentions 45Kgs per hour. Pay attention at that point.(Listen from 7:47 mark on video)
I highly recommend those who have not seen it, watch it. It also mentions fire brick, something not talked about much.
I think this video should be archived here so it does not disappear.

Interesting video, although both those guys kind of creeped me out with their excitement of the cremation process.

To go along with this, does anyone know how much energy is required to cremate a body? I would think that modern crematoriums would know exactly how much fuel is required if for no other reason than to save money (or "green" reasons in today's environment).

If we knew the kilojoules needed to incinerate 1 kg of human remains we could then estimate the energy requirements for each camp's supposed cremation activities. This could then be applied to available fuel sources as in 1kg of coal produces 29307kj, it would take x tons of coal to cremate x number of bodies (given an average weight).

Has this already been done?

I think someone calcuted the cremations times etc. with Topf & Sohn ovens by the standards of that kind of ovens.
Those cannot be compared to modern really effective cremation ovens.
"Surprisingly, however, in the book [Schlomo] Venezia does not describe it at all: he
does not indicate its size, its location in the building..."

Yes I would agree to that, but still the furnace does only 45 kgs per hour
