reduce the size of your quotes

We are getting too much text posted as quotes, please limit them.

Pick specific points to quote rather than large amounts of text which clutter the board and make digesting any point more difficult.

This is a typical tactic of those who wish to distract and clutter the board. Let's get this under control. Make your points with specific sections.

Is this about the number of quotes or is it about the text within the quote, or both?

It's really just a volume issue. Large quotes make it difficult and time consuming for the reader to digest.

The number of quotes does not seem to be a problem at this point as long as they stay on topic. Also, each thread should be centered on a specific point, rather than wandering all over the place.

Even in these days of shortened attention spans what with Internet surfing and multi-channel cable TV, we should try and credit the members of this board with enough reading skills to digest a couple of pages worth of text. Heaven help them if they ever try to read a whole book

I don''t know what your vision is for the board but if the aim is to increase the membership and encourage a diversity of viewpoints, may I suggest the relaxing or amendment of some of the rules. For instance, the rule "No 'dodging', when questioned or challenged you must respond or leave the thread." will only have the effect of causing more threads to be started

Instead, I propose a new rule which seeks to stop spamming and regurgiposting of redundant material.

Nope, let's keep the quotes specific and to the point as stated.

Nope, no dodging.

I have seen nothing that qualifies as spam, but have seen much which qualifies as dodging and cluttering the board. :wink:
