Here's wishing all our US friends a happy Fourth of July.

The US Constitution is under attack like at no other time in history.
The right to free speech is especially being assaulted under the Orwellian language of "Hate Crimes".
We must resist the temptation to cower and lay silent.

It's not only that Free Speech or the Constitution of the US is under attack there. Actually the fundamentals of a civilised society to work are under attack for quite a while now. Every cornerstone has been attacked so far:
- Sound money, which is the basis for a workable economy.
- Sound mores, which is the basis for continued social peace.
- Sound science, which is the basis for learning and technological progress, nay maintenance of a solid infrastructure at all.
- Sound historiography, which has to be subjective, while fair and is the basis for any societies sense of self as well.

I think one can add - religion perhaps? Or simply the spiritual foundation of individuals and communities to be able to recognise truth and embrace the above.
