The notorious antirevisionist writer Jean-Claude Pressac didn't call Bischoff's alleged letter on titanic crematory efficiency a mistake. He called it an "internal propaganda lie of the SS."
Die Welt, August 28, 2002 :
"Pressac calls SS-Bauleiter Bischoff's letter concerning the 'capacity' of the crematoria an 'internal propaganda lie of the SS.'
I expressed the view that doubt about the authenticity of the document is justified. There are several reasons for this."

Disinformation, not misinformation.

All a 'explanation' has to comply with is that it needs to be acceptable towards the key figures in the audience.
And yes, that can get really insane over time... reaching a level where it doesn't make any sense anymore to an outsider, while an insider can't imagine that there is anything wrong. And yes, it's also how cults operate.
For some reason they hate Hitler more than they do Himmler. Himmler being more of a colorless cartoon villain that was 'only following orders'. The run of the mill Holocaustian won't even go that far. There it is "He was part of the forces of evil".... No rational examination on him possible. Meanwhile there are some of his remarks, when confronted with the Holocaust charge knowable.
