"[Austen Chamberlain] has done western civilization a great service by refuting at least one of the slanders against the Germans
because a civilization which leaves war lies unchallenged in an atmosphere of hatred and does not produce courage in its leaders to refute them
is doomed.

The term emerged only in the 1970s although earlier usage is of course possible.

They probably did. And the word "Holocaust" was also used in Israel's 1948 declaration of independence.

Declaration of Independence
Provisional Government of Israel
Official Gazette: Number 1; Tel Aviv,
5 Iyar 5708, 14.5.1948 Page 1

[...]

The catastrophe which recently befell the Jewish people - the massacre of millions of Jews in Europe - was another clear demonstration of the urgency of solving the problem of its homelessness by re-establishing in Eretz-Israel the Jewish State, which would open the gates of the homeland wide to every Jew and confer upon the Jewish people the status of a fully privileged member of the comity of nations.

Survivors of the Nazi holocaust in Europe, as well as Jews from other parts of the world, continued to migrate to Eretz-Israel, undaunted by difficulties, restrictions and dangers, and never ceased to assert their right to a life of dignity, freedom and honest toil in their national homeland.

Although, it wasn't trademarked yet, it wasn't a brand name at this stage. It still was to be coined in that way.
One would have thought they would have needed a thorough investigation yet, because while there were people missing it wasn't proven that they were even dead.

If someone was killed during the war, he would be missing. But not every missing person wasn't killed during the war.
