Jewish military losses

Postby Whodunnit? » 3 months 5 days ago (Sun Mar 05, 2023 6:13 am)

Are there any reliable numbers of how many Jews served and died as soldiers and partisans?

I have some incomplete numbers: allegedly

1) 500,000 jews served in the Red Army (Solomon Grayzel, A History of The Jews)
2) 550,000 jews served in the US armed forces
3) 17,000 jews served in the Canadian armed forces
4) 60,000 jews served in the British armed forces
5) 31,218 jewish soldiers died in the Polish armed forces in 1939 (Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, Vol. 8)
6) 200,000 jewish soldiers died from 1939 to 1942 ( Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, Vol. 10)
7) "between 20,000- 30,000 Jews escaped from Nazi ghettos and camps to form or join organized resistance groups." (https://www.jewishpartisans.org/what-is ... h-partisan)
8) ...and of course according to the book "Hitler's Jewish Soldiers" there were 60,000 German soldiers with at least one jewish parent and 100,000 with jewish grandparents.

This is all I could find. If you include the armies of France, Belgium, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Yugoslavia, Greece, but probably also Germany, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria.

Overall, you should get to at least 2,000,000 jews that must have been active in military and paramilitary units

Are there any more complete numbers, or any number someone can add?

I don't think that it will be possible to get a complete figure. Simply because in many cases Jews were not registered as such in the military.

Indeed, there were Jews in the Axis armies as well. But don't mention that to loud. I may conflict with the popularized narrative.
