The mountains of hair have a simple explanation - prevent typhus. Obviously the National Socialists cared about prisoner healthcare, as Mattogno goes into detail at length in "Healthcare at Auschwitz",

so why would they dispose of all the eyeglasses?

Many people, including myself, need them in everyday life - wouldn't this hinder the working ability of the prisoners who needed their eyeglasses to see properly?

It doesn't add up.

Human hair shaved from the inmates' heads was, as you rightly suggest, a sensible hygiene measure designed to assist with trying to control the many typhus epidemics in the labour camps.

Just like the advanced German technology, microwave delousing machine developed by Siemens-Schuckert.

High Frequency Delousing Facilities at Auschwitz
http://www.ihr.org/jhr/v18/v18n3p-4_Weber.html

In the Bletchley Park decrypts links posted above, we read that this human hair was used industrially. So nothing "secret" or nefarious about that whatsoever.

There was a war on. Germany was blockaded. Everything was in short supply and therefore held higher value than normal. Britain for example, was so short of iron and steel that metal street railings were ripped out & folk were handing in unwanted metal cookware for recycling as part of the war effort. Germany was no different.

What is it that "bothers you" about piles of glasses at, for example, Auschwitz ?

Pick any town with a population comparable to the population size of Auschwitz.

Count how many folk die in that town in 55 months, the period that Auschwitz was operational.

Count how many of those deceased towns-folk wore glasses ?

Now throw in persistent typhus epidemics, the poor state of health of the peasantry interned, many already infested with typhus, the poor sanitary, hygiene and food situation which was ordered to be reversed and was subsequently improved with some success, the disciplinary executions, the toll of work etc. etc.

People died in Auschwitz and elsewhere, just like they do everyday, everywhere.

Some of them wore spectacles.

What is the problem you are having seeing that ?

Maybe you need to ask yourself why the the "piles of shoes" images are used ?

When we know that the inmates' shoes were replaced by wooden clogs.

Why doesn't that "bother you" ?

Then ask yourself, how many folk have "died" in Palestine since the Nakba ?

How many of those wore glasses ?

Why do we not see piles of Afghan / Palestinian / Iraqi / Syrian spectacles and shoes ?

Or piles of spectacles and shoes from the millions who died in both World Wars ?

Redistribution to the Wehrmacht/civilian population?

These would have been higher priorities than camp inmates who may well have been doing manual labour rather than detailed work.

We have no way of knowing whether those who really needed them were allowed to keep them.

Enough metal in wire rim glasses to be recycled? Maybe it wouldn't go with other metal because it was attached to glass?. Recycling drives can bolster civic cohesion in a community?

But the pile of glasses doesn't look like a pile of glasses. I wonder how that pile of glasses could ever be tested. I think there's a gizmo where you can find out the lense power by holding it up to the gizmo. Would there really be a variety of makes and models, and powers and bifocals? In this pile there are sections where there doesn't seem to be lenses at all. There are photo angles where every pair in a vicinity of the pile appears to be the same make. There's an odd 'mangled' component in other areas.

Could a Soviet factory have churned out a bunch of imitation glasses? A Potemkin village strategy for atrocities?

A pile of glasses has ZERO probative value, but is very useful in innuendo tactics.

Of course one has to ask oneself, why use innuendo, if there was abundance of serious, hard evidence?

If these glasses come from Jews who were killed when they arrived, then why are these pairs of glasses not in fairly good shape?

I can only imagine the answers: To add insult to injury the Scharfuehrer mangled each pair as he tossed them into the bin. Except it would have been Jewish sonderkommando collecting them. If they were worth money, wouldn't the arms of the glasses have at least been folded? In the realm of reading glasses, other people can use them, since it's just magnification, which is why you can buy reading glasses without a prescription in the drugstore. So why not fold them?

The more I think about it, once Hannover put in my mind a reason to doubt it, is this is an NKVD Psych Warfare pile creation using the power, as Hektor mentioned, of 'innuendo.' And they did a poor job. Put even though they did a poor job, they did a good job, since that pile has fooled millions of people.

My thinking before this, was that it was a real pile, but didn't prove the holocaust.

If the Jews were tricked into believing they were being transported to a labor camp (but it was really a part-extermination camp) then why would they bring with them mangled glasses?

Hi.
It has been a while since I have come to this forum. I would like to make a comment on this topic and ask a question.
The comment will help with this general question concerning the piles of items displayed at museums and in WWII propaganda photos.
Because of the blockade of Germany during WWI, many Germans starved. There were shortages of raw materials and was the source of many problems for the civilians as well as the soldiers of that time. In 1941, the Nazis established a program to collect scrap material to help deal with the same situation they faced in WWI - being cut off from trade and raw materials. The people of Nazi-occupied Europe were told to give up used clothing, etc. for the war effort. The U.S. had a similar "donate scraps to fight the Japs" program.
People bundled up old clothes, shoes, toothbrushes, flatware, old eyeglasses, medical prostheses, sewing machines in need of repair, and all sorts of things which were then collected and put onto trains and trucks. The material collected was sent to labor camps to be cleaned and sorted. The material was then reused where possible. There are records of this program in the IMT books if you look for them. At the end of the war the Russians, British, and Americans used the piles of scrap material being processed at the Nazi labor camps as coming from people they killed for their used underwear and old shoes. We are supposed to believe the Nazis kept this stuff like a serial killer keeps souvenirs of their murders.
Birkenau camp had a whole section they named "Canada" in which they stored the sorted material. This borderline trash has been dubbed "loot" by the victors.
Now my question. Does anyone know the real origin of photo with the box of rings with the man stooped behind it hold some of the rings in his hands? I have seen it claimed to be from a camp in Poland and one in Germany. I know rings were collected from the victims of Allied air raids as a way to identify the dead. A lot of people died at the camps. I would think any jewelry would have been removed before cremation. But it may be something else. It would be interesting to know the location and the context in which the photo was taken.

Good question but without perhaps knowing it you open up another even better point.

Can you prove or do you have some evidence that large amounts of stuff from the greater German population was collected and sent to labour camps to be sorted and recycled? This could account for a whole load of train journeys and would blow open the claims that all glasses, clothes etc were solely the property of murdered jews.

It doesn't alter the fact that inmates of any religious persuasion would have had little or no need for excess clothes and personal items. Does not prove mass murder. No more than looking at a claimed pile of moon rock proves man went to the moon.

Some examples of piles of shoes that were obviously not collected from gassing victims:

The Nazis were taking apart worn-out shoes and using the pieces of leather to make new shoes for their soldiers. Some of the shoes were sent to the German citizens had lost everything in the bombing raids. Some of these shoes had been taken from the prisoners who had been brought to the camps, and some were the worn-out shoes of German soldiers. There's nothing inherently sinister about it
"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments, and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance -- that principle is contempt prior to investigation."
— Herbert Spencer

NOTE: I am taking a leave of absence from revisionism to focus on other things. At this point, the ball is in their court to show the alleged massive pits full of human remains at the so-called "extermination camps." After 8 decades they still refuse to do this. I wonder why...

Shoes (for whatever reasons) seem to have a very high psychological impact. At the Eichman trial one of the "witnesses" - from memory an Austrian- Jewish psychologist - placed a pair of shoes in front of himself as he gave "evidence".

One would expect Jewish organisations to be extremely proficient in the use of these techniques. During the British Palestine mandate a favorite ruse was to place a group of children and women in a building along with a friendly photographer from the US press. False information would be leaked which led to the building being raided by the British. The end result was a nicely staged photo of British soldiers towering over "terrified" women and children.
