Did the Nazi's behead people?

Postby RickyWhite » 1 year 1 month ago (Wed Apr 20, 2022 11:23 am)

I have been researching Jehovah's Witnesses in ww2 and I know that there where some who were executed and died in the camps. Ditlieb Felderer a former Jehovah's Witness put the number at 203 who either died or were killed.

I came across the jw.org website and they give 3 people who were sentenced to death and the method of execution was beheading. This is the first time I have heard of Nazi's beheading people. Does anyone have more information on this?

Here is the page on jw.org:

Yes, they did. For the implementation of death penalties. In Germany, the guillotine (in German, Fallbeil, lit. "falling hatchet", or Fallschwertmaschine, lit. "falling sword machine") was used in various German states from the 19th century onwards. It was the preferred method of execution in Napoleonic times in many parts of the country. The guillotine and the firing squad were the legal methods of execution during the era of the Second Reich (1871–1918), the Weimar Republic (1919–1933), the Third Reich (1933-1945), and post-WWII Western and Eastern Germany (1945-1989). The guillotine was used for the last time in Germany on former SS doctor Horst Fischer in 1966.
"[Austen Chamberlain] has done western civilization a great service by refuting at least one of the slanders against the Germans
because a civilization which leaves war lies unchallenged in an atmosphere of hatred and does not produce courage in its leaders to refute them
is doomed.
