Un an d'emprisonnement. C'est la peine à laquelle le négationniste de Saint-Lô, Vincent Reynouard, a été condamné aujourd'hui, mercredi 17 juin, par la cour d'appel de Caen.

Avant les commémorations du 70e anniversaire du Débarquement en Normandie, il avait diffusé une vidéo développant ses thèses. Il dénonçait notamment les voyages d'études des écoliers dans les camps de concentration, "un embrigadement au nom du devoir de mémoire" selon ce Saint-Lois de 45 ans.

La peine prononcée aujourd'hui est moins lourde qu'en première instance. En février, il avait écopé de deux ans de prison devant le tribunal correctionnel de Coutances. C'est le procureur de la République qui avait fait appel, car la peine infligée dépassait ce que prévoit la loi pour ce type de faits.

Ancien professeur, limogé par l'Education Nationale, Vincent Reynouard avait déjà été condamné en 2007 pour une brochure négationniste.

One year imprisonment. That is the punishment to which the Holocaust denier of Saint-Lô, Vincent Reynouard, was sentenced today, Wednesday 17 June, by the court of appeal of Caen.

Prior to the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings, he published a video which espoused his ideas. He particularly denounced the the trips by students to concentration camps, a form of "brainwashing in the name of duty to remember" according to the 45-year-old Saint-Lô resident.

The sentence announced today is less severe than in the initial judgment. In February he was sentenced to two years in prison by the Correctional Tribunal at Coutances. It was the prosecutor who brought the appeal, since the sentence imposed exceeded that provided by the law for these kinds of acts.

Former teacher dismissed by the National Education Ministry, Reynouard has already been sentenced before in 2007 for a negationist pamphlet.

This isn't unexpected: the court date was set months ago. I don't know if today's hearing exhausts Vincent's possibilities for appeal, or if there's any chance of taking it higher. But then, Vincent has repeatedly stated that he has no intention of defending himself since the whole thing ("justice" under the regime of Fabius-Gayssot) is a charade anyway; the only reason the February sentence went to appeal is because the judge handed down such an excessive sentence that even the prosecutor found it unconscionable. Barring that kind of official intervention again, I suspect that the sentence will now take effect immediately. Vincent has also sometimes suggested that he may try to avoid prison by going into exile; I don't know how likely or even possible that is at this point.

Dès lors, il faut réhabiliter le national-socialisme dans ce qu'il a de réhabilitable afin que les nationaux-socialistes puissent enfin prendre part aux débats sociaux. D'où l'intérêt vital du révisionnisme (afin d'obtenir cette rehabilitation)

Sadly, true. The very recent breakup with his current wife (Marie) because of revisionism-caused exile has just defeated his willingness.
