Sorry, I know this is old stuff for most here, but, what book will explain what was going on in Germany before Hitler that brought about his rise to power? E. Michael Jones speaks of Hitler's rise to power as a sort of backlash, or response to something the German people were being subjected to prior.
Secondly, suggest a book that will explain Hitler's form of National Socialism, what his grand plan was for the German people. Thanks.

Hitler tackled his country's bankruptcy, massive unemployment, Communist subversion and foreign domination that followed the Versailles treaty and the Great Depression. You might want to read these books:
"Hitler's Revolution: Ideology, Social Programs, Foreign Affairs" by Richard Tedor.

Re: Pre-Hitler Germany...National Socialism
The Weimar period was a time of impoverishment, mistreatment, ill fate, unhappiness and social tension for most Germans.
It's not that all Germans were poor of course. Some made quite some money. But a large portion of the middle class lost their businesses and assets like real estate, investments, etc. A large number of Working class Germans was impoverished even more. The chaotic conditions weren't really conducive towards investment and business, at all.
Interestingly almost 40 years ago... German state TV released a series of interviews with comments by Germans that voted Hitler and lived through that Times. Asking them the How and why's:

https://archive.org/details/WarumSieHit ... ichDienten
It's probably the most honest and clear documentary about this period I have ever seen. Albeit not without some 'anti-fascist' license being added, especially in the end.
I doubt something like this was repeated afterwards.
They describe the conditions of the Weimar-Period before Hitler. The unemployment, Mayhem, corruption, unrests... Also mentioned that mainly the Communists were the thugs... That the NSDAP acted more respectable and well that they voted for Hitler so the social, economic, safety and foreign policy issues could be addressed and resolved. And well... Before Hitler people weren't paid their full salaries for some time. And when Hitler came to power, they actually got paid.
Not sure if the docus are available with English subtitles somewhere, but it looks worthwhile.
