Looking for a particular newspaper article

Postby cold beer » 10 months 2 weeks ago (Sun Jul 24, 2022 1:18 pm)

Although the news article I'm seeking isn't directly related to this forum's subject matter it seems to be the best place to post it, short of having a forum related to communist history.
I am looking for a newspaper article (I believe it was from the NYT) in which it was stated that certain Jewish leaders in the west were against sending relief aid to the USSR during one of it's famines. The reason stated was something along the lines that it would in some way threaten Jewish political power in the USSR.

I see a couple of articles about a Jewish/Communist group in the USA that was raising money for relief. "Friends of Soviet Russia." There were evidently suggestions that they were using the money more for political (communist) purposes rather than real relief.

NYT (Feb 11, 1922)

NYT (Jul 28, 1922)

There's another one that sounds a little like what you're talking about. These are the closest I found.

Marguerite E. Harrison, "Famine Relief May Modify Present Russian Government," Baltimore Sun, 8/25/1921, p.3

The united action of the rest of the world in coming to the relief of famine-stricken Russia is not going to overthrow the Communist dictatorship, but it is going to afford moral support to the liberal elements within and without the Communist party. This may considerably modify the existing government without effecting a change in its outward form.

A significant fact is that the support which the race-conscious Jews are giving the Communists is not nearly as strong as in the early days of the Soviet Republic. Many Jews are members of the Menshevik and Social Revolutionary parties. Fear of pogroms, if a victory of the extreme left Communists should push t he country to a counter-revolution are largely responsible. The Bund, the Jewish Marxist Socialist party, is at present on the black list with the other Socialists.

FYI the best service that I’ve seen for newspapers is ProQuest. It’s a database for academic institutions. Everything is digitized and searchable. Most university libraries will license this, but they might only pay for certain papers. Bigger libraries will usually pay for wider access.

I apologize for the delay in my response, for unknown reasons I no longer receive email notifications. Thank you for posting these articles which are useful to me. In particular in the first article the mention of communist infiltration of unions. Or it's probably more accurate to say these unions are established by communist from the beginning.
But then in the second article there is the accusation by Jewish socialist groups that this relief group is attempting to break up unions. Is this a PR move to counter reports on Jewish support of the soviets in order to persuade the public that Jews in general don't support communism??
The article I'm seeking was mentioned in a video that was on this forum. In the video it specifically mentions in the article that the Jews are worried about losing power in the Soviet Union. When I realized a need for it I went back to the video and by then it was removed from YouTube.

Unfortunately I don't have ready access to a major library or university. I am considering getting a subscription to the NYT. I have an interest in seeing what was reported in that era, especially the claims made about "death camps".

If you have the original URL you might be able to figure out what it was and find a copy somewhere.

Every YT URL has a video ID. It says v= a bunch of letters and numbers.

For example
v=8WyFoB7TCfc

If you search the ID on Google, you can usually at least find out what it was called. From there you can see if there’s a copy on Bitchute, Altcensored, archive.org, etc.

Australia has a good resource. There's a lot of British news articles reposted into these Australian papers. Australia joined the war against Germany with the British declaration.

Early historical Australian newspapers between 1803 and 1955 are freely available online through the Trove database.

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/?q=

It might not have the article you're looking for, but it nonetheless may come in handy for other topics.

"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments, and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance -- that principle is contempt prior to investigation."
— Herbert Spencer

NOTE: I am taking a leave of absence from revisionism to focus on other things. At this point, the ball is in their court to show the alleged massive pits full of human remains at the so-called "extermination camps." After 8 decades they still refuse to do this. I wonder why...
