Modern democracies don't censor, they claim. Modern democracies just ban 'hate speech'. So the ADL, the SPLC and similar organizations only need to label those who oppose Jewish interests as alleged 'haters' in order to have them silenced and ostracized. That's why Holocaust revisionism is often falsely portrayed as "a form of anti-Semitism". The preservation of the illusion of democratic free speech requires the use of such deceitful and hypocritical tricks...
They indeed don't censor (inspecting and approving/rejecting before publication). They may however start a myriad of law suits against dissident publishers, which is something the vast majority of people will understandably try to avoid. It's also less the government that is engaged in this. Rather it's "private" incentives to be compliant (be in good books with the herd). And of course that can go as far as doxxing, deplatforming, harassing and using direct physical violence against dissenters. Just throwing dissenters into jail would be to obvious.... Rather make it look like some "concerned members of society" take offense at certain types of opinions like calling out technical impossibilities/improbabilities, disapproving non-heterosexual mannerisms and behaviors, wanting to keep your country a high trust society etc. All this can get you on the modern index of political correctness and there are those that will act upon it.... Pretty obviously in an organized fashion to establish a 'cancel culture'.
"Hate Speech" is of course another non-descriptive, ambiguous term. To the normie it sounds like "Someone must have called for the murder of others".... Well, it's enough to speak of certain protected groups in a less then worshipful fashion.... And you are a "Hater".... Quite illiberal of them to try to regulated the emotions and attitudes of people, don't you think.
