By the way I am not Jewish.

I eagerly await your frequent participation on this forum. That said, please note that your unverified/unverifiable archival citations will not be taken seriously here. If the Holocaust is a proven fact for public recognition as such, prove it with the materials available publicly. Otherwise, be sure to include proper scans (or photographs), translations, citations, and context for any new records introduced.

Just to clarify, he can post as much as he wants. The restriction he's talking about is that the posts have to be manually approved which in practice will mean a little lag time before his posts show up on the forum.

This restriction was basically a ban in the past, since my posts were not being approved.

The new guy is more pro-free speech.

But this is not the only restriction; I cannot send DMs for some reason either.

I am aware. Just saying that, either way, once he does post and begin debating here, it should be done with integrity.

This is not a relevant consideration in a discussion of matters of fact, evidence, etc.

I am sympathetic to the free speech idea, but the rules have a purpose. The danger of removing all restrictions is that it lowers the standard of debate and allows people to sound off about all kinds of subjects, rehearse old material, engage in insults, etc. This used to happen on RODOH for example.

One answer might be to have less unmoderated threads for the views of individuals - as in the "BA's case for orthodoxy" thread, which other people have been contributing to. There are several such threads with links to the work and opinions of various public figures.

In case it is not obvious, this is not a relevant consideration either way in a discussion of matters of fact, evidence, etc.

Of course the Jewish ancestry of an "affirmer" shouldn't be relevant, but it is in practice relevant to most deniers/revisionists. In any case, I was responding to someone "accusing" me of being Jewish.

Well, there is some biographical relevance to that ... it is no accusation. But we can't test this here anyway. Users can have their own opinions about this and some may suspect that somebody is a troll.

In the end 1+1=2 whether the person saying this is a Jew or a Nazi.

Bumping this thread to give a tip of the hat to the new mod team.

CODOH was a joke for years: the most censored forum on the Internet where "affirmers" were banned for sham justifications. Free speech appears to be allowed now.

You seem to be very confident that your statement is actually untrue.

I think free speech was always allowed here but like anything it comes with responsibility and some rules. Anyone who makes silly or outrageous claims will need to verify them and back them up with some hard evidence etc. Nothing wrong with that. As for the mod team I would guess they approve your posts because what you say is within the rules. No one here wants censorship or believers to be blocked, far from it. Any believer in the H is very welcome to come and put their case as long as they stick to the rules of the site when doing so.

the thing is that if 'anything goes' on a forum, it will be easily disrupted. One can keep out the more unsophisticated trolls with ease. But with the more sophisticated ones it isn't that easy. Their post will appear formally compliant with basic standards and requirements. But there are several techniques to derail a forum still. One thing can be the shear volume of posting, another one changing the subject and then there is the circular debating tactic that whenever you've been shown to be wrong, you change the definitions or hop to another issue just to keep going.

That type of tactic is usually more difficult to detect and especially difficult to prove as well. If you catch and ban them... They will run around and cry foul that they were treated unfairly and that the moderators 'don't support freedom of speech' etc. Meanwhile that wasn't even the issue. But it's difficult for the run-of-the mill internetter to figure that out. Because at face value they indeed may have been 'banned for posting'.

A (private) forum can set it's rules and also ban posters, if it deems that necessarily. So technically there is no 'freedom of speech', but a sort of house right and the head of the house can remove anybody from his premises.
