For someone who Ian Kershaw believes was "wholly ignorant" of economics, Hitler's performance with the German economy was all the more stunning.

The greatest economic miracle of all time was achieved by Hitler from 1933 to 1938 during a world depression and in spite of the worldwide anti-German boycott by Jews. See the unemployment graph above. If America ever intends to seriously deal with its own economic disaster today, it must first learn from Adolf Hitler.

The chart above appears in Burton Folsom's excellent new book: New Deal or Raw Deal? on page 243. One can see that in 1932, the year before Hitler and Roosevelt both came to power, Germany's unemployment rate was 30.1% and America's was 24.9%. But within just five years, Germany's unemployment rate was reduced to only 4.6% (1937) and dropped even further to only 2.1% a year later. By contrast, FDR in 1937 still had 13.2% unemployment which actually rose to 19.8% a year later. Hitler was the clear, unmatched winner in terms of economic management. No doubt, the fiendish Nazis must have been in league with the devil himself to pull off this economic miracle which is unmatched in all of human history. Hitler's achievement becomes all the more stunning when one realizes that America was, and still is, a vast country with vast resources whereas Germany was a small country with coal as its only resource. Germany had been defeated in a terrible war which America won and to whom almost the entire world was deeply in debt financially. Germany was also the target of a worldwide Jewish economic boycott and had no gold reserves whereas America had an abundance of everything—except leadership. The name of Germany's leadership was: ADOLF HITLER!

Hitler also achieved a social miracle almost overnight by ending the bitter class divisions within Germany and lifting German workers to the highest levels anywhere in the world—and all of that without the bloody revolution that communists insisted would be needed. It was small wonder that the German people admired Hitler and pledged their eternal loyalty to him. Postwar American psychiatrists and social planners for Germany (many of them Jewish like Erich Fromm, of course) were, and still are, totally incapable of understanding any of that. Other “scholars” like Raul Hilberg or Harvard's Daniel J. Goldhagen insisted that there was something seriously wrong with the Germans generally going back centuries. How else could the Germans have possibly followed Hitler as they did? They must have been driven by some deep-rooted flaws within their very beings. In his highly influential Origins of the Second World War (1961), British historian A.J.P. Taylor gave the Nazis credit for creating widespread prosperity, concluding on pages 104-05; “The Nazi secret was not armament production; it was freedom from the then orthodox principles of economics. Government spending provided all the happy effects of mild inflation; while political dictatorship, with its destruction of trade unions and rigorous exchange control, prevented such unfortunate consequences as a rise in wages, or in prices.” Hjalmar Schacht, who was temporarily head of the German central bank and a defendant in the Nuremberg Trial, summed it up thus… An American banker had commented, “Dr. Schacht, you should come to America. We’ve lots of money and that’s real banking.” Schacht replied, “You should come to Berlin. We don’t have money. That’s real banking.” Hitler's miracle was comparable to Jesus “feeding the multitudes” next to the Sea of Galilee except that Hitler's performance was far more spectacular— and it was real. Hitler did NOT just feed a multitude of 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fishes--he fed tens of millions with nothing at all. That was a real miracle!

Can America ever admit that it might learn something, anything at all, from Hitler-–that supposed “madman”–-or the Nazis in order to solve the mess it is in today? Of course, not! The “holocaust” will blind America to real solutions and so, indirectly, it will pay an astronomical price for the holocaust mytho-mania which it has embraced and promotes as a nation. In the meantime, the Jewish wizards of Wall Street and high finance will continue to eviscerate America; they are becoming fabulously wealthy as the rest of the country becomes poor--the gap is widening, and everyone knows it. America needs a Hitler. What America has now is nothing.

If I remember what Richard Overy (in his book Dictators) wrote, it was not Hitler but Hjalmar Schacht who was the driving force behind the German economic recovery. Schacht was not even a National Socialist, but a conservative.

According to various figures, half a million women were removed (up to 1937) by the marriage allowance and Jews and various communists were ofcourse taken off the market either by imprisonment or removal of citizenship. 1.2 million more were in the army by 1939. Many others had been absorbed into unpayed Reicharbeitsdeinst work, NS bureaucracy or work in factories for the rearmament programme.

Wages stagnated while consumer prices went up. German living standards were lower than the US, thats for certain (see especially Tooze, chapter "Volksgemeinschaft on a budget"). The German "economic miracle" is not everything some writers, such as Taylor, have made it out to be - don't get me wrong, it was a major feat no doubt but it is somewhat overstated. An "economic miracle" that did not raise living standards, reduced exports, covered up real unemployment statistics and was pushed ahead by rearmament and deficit spending is barely a "miracle" at all.

And Jews were, what, 15 million people? Even if this Jewish boycott was effective all over the world for all these years (I have seen no evidence of that), it could barely have made a difference.

The anti-Hitler defamation propagandists can't even keep their allegations credible. They could have claimed that the German living standards hadn't improved as much as claimed by some people. But even admitting Hitler improved something is too much for them. So they try to make people believe that the living standards of a country where currency notes were used as heating fuel because they had more value as paper than they had as money, fell after the Nazis were elected. And, according to that theory, the Germans were supposedly too stupid to see that their own living standards were falling. So they supported the Nazi regime as they had never supported any regime before. Ridiculous.

In fact, the German living standards were so low from 1929 to 1932 that had any regime failed to improve them quickly, that regime wouldn't have lasted for an entire year.

If that theory was true, even David Lloyd George, who was far from being an idiot or a gullible child and could "feel the pulse" of the German population after around 4 years of Nazi administration, was duped by the Nazi economic miracle and felt nothing of those allegedly falling living standards.

- He is affiliated with the EDIRC which is a RePEc service hosted by the Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Hardly a reliable affiliation. Credibility problem from the start.

German death rates increased between 1932 and 1937, whereas those of the Netherlands and Denmark both fell slightly

The study is full of biased comparisons with other countries, taking this info, ignoring the other and so on. Table 2 shows a comparison 1932/1937 (both sexes) (death rate x 1000) that it is almost identical in all groups except in 0-1 years group... it was 15 less than in 1932! And the authors claim that in 1937 there were more crude death rates x 10,000 than x 1,000? (perhaps there is a difference)

FIgure 2 shows the height of children in Stuttgart rising during the 20s (even during the depression! [except in girls of 9 years]) but declining or stagnated after...oh, 1933.

Figure 3 the same with children of Leipzig (6 years). Rising during the 20s (and the depression, of course) but stagnated/declined magically after 1933. In the post-war, they rised again (the good, democratic Germany).

In contrast, heights of other European a

There is nothing righteous or magical or even necessary about a nation’s currency being “backed” by gold or silver. This was proved by Adolf Hitler during the 1930s. It was proved so conclusively that the Jews want to make sure that it’s never tried again. The best way to ensure this is to associate debt-free currency with mass murder!

The economic mess that the US is in today will continue indefinitely. The solution, so successful in pre-war Germany under Hitler, is linked of course to holocaust lunacy--and so Jews who totally dominate all economic activity in the US dare not admit it has any merit. After all, Hitler was "pure evil."

The fact that standards of living in pre-war Britain and the US may have still been somewhat higher (maybe not) than in pre-war Germany ignores the fact that Britain and the US had vast resources and lands at their disposal whereas Germany had next to nothing. Hitler's achievement was the greatest economic miracle of all time--from which the world will eventually learn because it has no choice, ultimately. The Chinese seem to be the fastest learners.

Adam Tooze has been reviewed before.
Any valid comparison would be either between Germany and it's neighbors or between Germany prior to 1933 and a significant number of years later.

But how Germans may have experienced may have been even more significant. And there working class people could suddenly afford to buy there own home. Could afford vacation, decent clothing and feeding for there kids, etc. This is the general experience. Virtually no German ever claimed to have become poorer under Hitler 1933-1939. The war changed that picture of course.

The "But Hitler financed everything on debt" argument is bogus as well. On what "debt" did he base it on? On fiat debt from his very own reserve bank. Do those clowns arguing that way have any idea how Western economies do finance their financial economies and how much debt they have including to their reserve banks?
