Last night on the BBC they showed their weekly offering of DNA-Family secrets. It's a spin off from the highly success, and very interesting, Who Do You Think You Are.
Each week they follow the search for family background and history of two or three normal people in UK.
Last night they included an elderly, though smart and active chap, who is jewish and had survived the holocaust.
Here are the short form bullet points of his story and his claim.
-He was born a few years before the war started.
-His mother had died before he was taken to Theresienstadt camp in about 1943. He was an only child.
-He made friends with another child, a girl called Bela, and they looked after each other.
-He wondered why his father was unknown to him and suggested maybe his father was a 'Nazi' and that is why he 'survived' the holocaust. This was clearly a heavy possibility to deal with for him.
-On his birth certificate there is no entry for the father's name etc.
-His belief was that he was all alone and no other members of his extended family 'survived' the holocaust.
-Immediately post war he and the little girl Bela were taken to England and put into foster and then adopted homes, they are very close friends to this day and she featured in the show.
The lady who was the head of the DNA profile and research team told him it would be very difficult to locate any relatives due to the fact that so many millions of jews were murdered in the holocaust and the Nazis destroyed all records of jews in German society before and during the war.
I did miss the very first few minutes of this show so there may have been a few elements of his story that I didn't catch. At this point I was beginning to see where this might go and was intrigued to see if I was right.
On one visit to Bela's home our man said again that he couldn't understand why they had 'survived' the holocaust and all the other children and their families had been packed off to the gas chambers at Auchwitz. He mentioned a figure of 13,000 plus children had gone. She then offered the amazing theory that it was because the other children had parents to carry them onto the trains and into the gas chamber at the other end!
An odd aside was that the man and Bela had lived in UK ever since the war and as I mentioned were just five or six years old when they arrived in England, yet she spoke like a normal English woman and he had a very heavy jewish accent. All very odd me thinks. Staged?
So he gets called into the researchers consulting room for the results. He looks as though the world is about to collapse around his ears.
She announces in a very low whisper that it had been one of the most challenging searches her team had ever undertaken. The temperature and tone of the room changes slightly at this point. Tension is in the air...
The results of his DNA test clearly show 99% Ashkenazi jew heritage and the names she searched showed a smallish area in Eastern europe though some names had been difficult to follow up and investigate. She couldn't tell him exactly where his family had originated but following his mother's line she had found names coming back over and over and thus it was announced where he was from and moreover that they had found clusters of matching DNA in groups of jews from the area who survived the holocaust and ooops were alive and well and had all emigrated to England post war!!!
She had spoken to some of these 'survivors' and their children, had done DNA tests and found that lo and behold he had branches of his DNA family in London including cousins and distance cousins etc all over the place! Quelle surprise.
So here we have another version of the jews in New York who thought they were the only ones who had 'survived' the holocaust and all 726 other family members had been gassed in Auschwitz only to find they are all bagel makers and diamond dealers in New York.
In this case this guy had convinced himself he was the only 'survivor' of the holocaust of all his extended family, his father might have been a Nazi and the rest had been gassed on arrival at Auschwitz or wherever, only to find they pretty much had all walked away from the holocaust unscathed in 1945. One can imagine how many times he had told his story of being the only 'survivor' from the holocaust and what a weight and burden it is for jews who lived when all those millions hadn't. Plus how he would never know his background and or meet any of his extended family only to realise it was all untrue but no doubt true in his mind. How many more jews will we find had survived the holocaust thinking they were the only ones left and yet they were living five minutes away from dozens of extended family?
At the end of the show he was filmed meeting his children of his cousins in a very smart north London house. Oh how I chuckled after it ended...

Am I the only one that notices that this sounds like a cop out?
They don't want to search for it, because it may reveal that the mortality figures weren't as it is alleged they were.

DNA and genealogy are areas that could potentially be very enlightening, although there has never been much revisionist research in this vein. The standard holocaust story makes a number of claims. The world Jewish population is said to have declined by some 40%. The surviving Jewish population should have been skewed toward employable men (with children and the elderly being disproportionately killed). The kill rates in many areas should have been very, very high. Anecdotally, we hear all the time from the holocaust survivors how they were the only one who survived etc but in the past these sorts of claims have been virtually impossible to confirm. But we might be reaching an era where it might be possible to fact-check some of these claims.
P.S. An example of how these claims often do no pan out.

In general Jews were not 'reported missing' and then searched for. They were declared dead pretty quickly. This was based on being deported and 'never heard from again'. It should actually be clear that this method will have lead to a very high figure of people that were missing to be declared dead for good.
Yet that subject didn't get any attention until now. Obviously it would raise questions on the narrative as a whole, although no matter what the facts are, Holocultists will stick to the Myth. In fact, they will say: "Even if only one Jew was killed, it would have created the same guilt". We are not dealing with sober historiography here.
