Jair Bolsonaro: We can forgive, but we cannot forget / Yad Vashem: no forgiveness

Postby Hektor » 4 years 1 month ago (Mon Apr 15, 2019 5:43 am)

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has come under fire for saying that the crimes of the Holocaust can be forgiven.

We can forgive, but we cannot forget,” Bolsonaro reportedly said at a meeting with Evangelical pastors in Rio de Janiero on Thursday night. “Those who forget the past are condemned to not have a future,” he added, according to the New York Times.
His comments drew applause from the pastors.

Bolsonaro, an ardently pro-Israel Christian, visited Israel two weeks ago, where he had a private tour of the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem.

“It is not the place of any person to determine whether the crimes of the Holocaust can be forgiven,” Yad Vashem said in a statement sent to Israeli media on Saturday night. “From the day of its founding, Yad Vashem has worked for the continuation of the memory and meaning [of the Holocaust] for the Jewish people and for mankind as a whole.”

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin was very direct in his criticism in a tweet. “What Amalek did to us inscribed in our memory, the memory of an ancient people. We will never aid those who deny the truth or those who wish to expunge our memory – not individuals or groups, not party leaders or prime ministers. We will never forgive and never forget. No-one will order the forgiveness of the Jewish people, and it can never be bought in the name of interests. The Jewish people will always fight anti-Semitism and xenophobia. Political leaders are responsible for shaping the future. Historians describe the past and research what happened. Neither should stray into the territory of the other.”

As of midnight on Saturday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who escorted Bolsonaro around Israel during his visit, had not responded to the Brazilian president’s remarks.

The usage of the term Amalek I find remarkable. It's almost an appeal to Mythology there. Then of course pointing out that there is, according to him, a "denial of truth". I'd say they overreacted with their response there.

Yes, it is quite clear that various racist Jews see modern Whites, not just Germans, as Amalek. Everyone who studies the Jews knows that the term "Amalek" and "Amalekites" is meant to refer to all of the enemies of the Jews, most usually White people generally, but also the Palestinians and Iranians and anyone else they hate.

Deuteronomy 25:19 wrote: Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget.

The term is only used in the context of people they want to commit genocide against. It is actually really just a code-word for "people we must exterminate"

@bariweiss
This shabbat is called the sabbath of remembrance, in which Jews are asked to remember--and to blot out--the nation of Amalek, infamous for murdering the weakest, most defenseless Israelites. Among Amalek's modern heirs: The terrorists who gunned down innocents in New Zealand.
3:31 AM - Mar 15, 2019
Miss Weiss is a NYT columnist, and here she explicitly referred to Brenton Tarrant as one of "Amalek's modern heirs".

Calling someone "Amalek" is literally equivalent of saying they must be exterminated. The Jewish holy texts say that they're supposed to kill all of them and slaughter their children.
"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments, and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance -- that principle is contempt prior to investigation."
— Herbert Spencer

NOTE: I am taking a leave of absence from revisionism to focus on other things. At this point, the ball is in their court to show the alleged massive pits full of human remains at the so-called "extermination camps." After 8 decades they still refuse to do this. I wonder why...

The Brazilian President has a soft spot for a special country in the ME - as do his sons it seems.

"The far-right Brazilian leader was "Catholic" but in 2016 he was baptized as Evangelical Christian on the Jordan River, a fact he referred to several times when he arrived in Israel on Sunday."

wiki:
Yair is a Hebrew given name, a variant of Jair. It may also be used as a surname.

In the Biblical Book of Judges, Yair (Hebrew: יָאִיר Yā’îr, "he enlightens")

Media from his recent visit to Israel:
"Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro is cutting his visit to Israel short by one day, according to a report late Monday night by Channel 13 News."

"Bolsonaro reportedly canceled a meeting with immigrants to Israel from Brazil. No reason was given for the decision."

"Earlier in the day, the Brazilian leader toured the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem, together with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."

"The Brazilian leader was not scheduled to visit the Palestinian Authority, nor meet with any PA officials, on this trip."

I can't believe I haven't already found out about this thread yet. To say the least, this joke of a so-called "nationalist" Bolsonaro has done practically nothing in his Presidency to indicate that he is an actual nationalist, with his diehard support for Zionism only being the icing on the cake.

To go a little off topic for a second, all that this "nationalist" is effective at doing is letting the agricultural business plunder Brazil's natural wealth, letting international Capital further strip Brazil of her industry (as if Presidents Kubitschek and Collor didn't do that already) and bowing to every whim and desire of the United States. If it were scientifically possible, Getúlio Vargas or Dom Pedro II would be doing cartwheels in their graves right now.

Anyway, back to the subject of the thread, there was also a statement issued by Bolsonaro during his 2018 Presidential campaign trail in regards to the Palestinian Question, to which he replied that he would only support a one-state solution in favor of Israel, and that the Arab nation of Palestine is "illegitimate," somehow.

The funniest part about this is the utter hypocrisy behind Bolsonaro's position, even in exclusive relation to Brazilian history. By Bolsonaro's own logic that the Palestinians "stole" Israel, Brazil should give Acre back to Bolivia which it also settled and technically "stole." In addition, Bolsonaro also fired a cultural minister early on in his Presidency for "quoting Joseph Goebbels," even though an English translation of the video where said cultural minister is allegedly quoting him clearly shows that at the absolute most, his words were a very loose paraphrasing of Goebbels.

If they were really bold, they would to pass a law banning Holocaust Denial in Brazil. Bolsonaro has been in a few years and there is no movement on that, so it seems unlikely. Or what? As with many figures like him, including the one recently retired to Florida, it would seem Bolsonaro is more "bark" than "bite."

Surprisingly, there is a specific anti-Nazi law in Brazil banning, under penalty or fines or prison, the following:
Manufacturing, selling, distributing or using symbols, emblems, ornaments, badges or advertising using the swastika for the Nazi disclosure purposes.
Not sure when that law dates to; if they're willing to do have such a law, a ban on Holocaust Denial is not a too-big logical leap.

Given that Brazil already has laws prohibiting the "incitement of hate," with the term "hate" of course changing in definition, it is perhaps possible that the Brazilian legal system would find a separate law for "Holocaust denial" redundant or a waste of time.

Still, there are a decent amount of published revisionist works from Brazil, most notably by Siegfried Castan Ellwanger, and I would assume that there are revisionist currents in the Brazilian Integralist Front and the New Resistance given how often they criticize and condemn Zionism.

I haven't heard of Siegfried Castan Ellwanger before and I see there is no thread on him here at CODOH-Forum. Maybe that is worth creating. I know nothing about him and I am sure I am not alone.

There are several scattered mentions of the name in this forum's archives, including in an introduction post from 2009 by a member named diehard, who wrote in part (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5444):
I have met Zündel personally back in 1989 in Toronto.

I also met several times and had very good chat conversations with Mr. Siegfried Ellwanger aka SE Castan back in the early nineties.

I have several questions which I will begin asking in the next few days.

Note: I've read almost all of David Irving's book.

A CODOH member named grenadier wrote a brief account in 2007 (viewtopic.php?p=30427#p30427):
As far as I know the revisionist movement in Brazil was headed by the Brazilian Siegfried Castan Ellwanger,
generally known as S.E. Castan. He wrote several books, the most well known was his first, written in the 80s
called "Holocausto, Judeu ou Alemão? Nos Bastidores da Mentira do Século", which later was even translated into
english, spanish and german. It seems to have done well sales-wise. I cannot comment on the quality because I never
read any of his work. There are 2 chapters which might be quite interesting; one which talks about conditions in
occupied Poland during the war according to the testimony of a Brazilian reporter who was there and another which
discusses Mengele - who after the war lived in Brazil - as he was seen by people who had contact with him in Brazil.

After his first book, Ellwanger opened a revisionist publishing house called "Revisão Editora Ltda".
From that point on he came under harassement by the Zionists led by the influential rabbi Henry Sobel, who sued him over
a variety of issues. Ellwanger had to open his own book store too because pressure from Jewish groups made sure book
stores stopped carrying his books.

In 2001 Ellwanger was found guilty of "racism" regarding Jews, under a strict new Brazilian law, by a panel of Supreme
Court justices which included the now president(of Supreme court) Ellen Gracie Northfleet. Sobel had close ties to
some of the judges. As far as I know, E's publishing house and book store were closed down and the books confiscated.
E has repeatedly denied the charges of racism.

E is also the man who translated Porter's book "Not guilty" into Portuguese.

I see Ellwanger died in 2010 at age 81.
