Movies play a significant role in shaping the way the general public views a historical event. Even the name of the "Holocaust" itself, I am told, came from the 1978 mini series of the same name. By contrast, Soviet crimes get very little attention in Hollywood, so I was wondering if you guys have seen any good movies that cover Soviet atrocities or perhaps movies told from the German point of view where they are not portrayed as cartoonish monsters.
I recently watched Katyn (2007). Very interesting to see the Soviets and Germans working together at first in Poland. And it showed the Soviets and Germans each trying to pin the massacre on the other, but ultimately revealing of course that the Soviets did it. Mr. Jones (2019) was a brief glimpse at the Holodomor that was pretty well made.
Any other films like these that you recommend? Anyone seen Generation War (Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter) (2013)? It has very good reviews so I'm thinking of watching it.

From what I recall, Katyn barely showed any Germans. But when it did, it portrayed them as mean.
